Building a Steel Garage

When you decide to erect a steel garage, you have to look at the land you have available for the structure. You have to look at the size of the lot before you decide on a particular style of garage because you need to have enough room for the measurements. You also have to see whether or not a steel building is permitted in your area, as many residential areas have specific rules regarding the types of buildings you can have on your property. Even though a concrete slab is the preferred foundation that many garage owners prefer to have, with a garage made from steel, you don’t really need to have one. You do have to look at the local weather conditions and the building specifications before you start to erect a foundation. Why go through this extra expense if you don’t need to?

There are several different styles you can choose from when you decide to go with a prefab garage. You can have arches that are bolted together in two-foot wide panels that are easy to raise and bolt to the next standing section. The arches have two roof sections and side panels for every building. You can easily make the building longer or wider by adding panels. The panels are made from heavy commercial steel and all the holes you need for the bolts are pre-drilled. The panels are also corrugated lengthwise to give you added stability and rigidity.

With a base connector you can ensure that the panels are attached securely to the base by anchor bolts. This also gives you flexibility to move or expand the building and provides you with protection against anything getting into the garage – the weather, insects or other pests. The bolts that come with the prefab kits have a recessed polyethylene washer to ensure an airtight seal. Not only do they make constructing the garage a lot easier, but they also provide strength and flexibility to the structure.
