Garage Door Seals

Garage door seals are designed to keep dust and dirt from blowing under the door into the garage. They are also useful in preventing rodents from getting into the garage and they will keep the snow from beating is as well. They can be fitted to wooden or steel garage doors in a residential or commercial garage. The seals are easy to fit in place with adjustable screws and you can use them in conjunction with brush seals for even better protection. The seals are ideal for closing spaces under your garage door when the door closes.

Most older garage doors do not have good seals because even though they do block out the weather and dust, they still allow cold air in and this hampers the job of heating the garage. When you buy a garage door you need to look at the seals between the door panels. The simplest types of seals are compression types that either compress the metal spring seals or the polyurethane bulb weather stripping in the gaps. The best seals for garage doors are the ones with a tongue-and-groove or shiplap panel edge design. These designs create a longer, non-straight air leakage path, which restricts the airflow into and out of the garage.

When you get your house ready for winter, you need to check the seal of the garage door. If it seems to be deteriorated, you shouldn’t take a chance on it lasting until spring. You need to use a pry bar to remove the seal and replace it with a new one.
