How To Use Garage Floor Covers
Most people have concrete floors in their garages. You can get a roll out
garage floor cover that will extend the life of the concrete and keep it from getting chipped and cracked. It also prevents the stains from
battery acid, mud, oil and gas leaks, and other fluids from forming large, ugly, dark stains on the floor. There is a tough porous PVC surface
that is specifically formulated to resist staining and to allow you to clean up the messes very easily. The ribs in the material also provide
a non-slip surface making it safe you to walk around the garage.
This type of cover for the garage floor does not require extensive
preparations like you would have to do if you were going to treat the floor with epoxy. With a BLT (Better Life Technology) cover, all you
have to do is roll it out and cut it off to fit around the edges with a utility knife. The BLT floor for a garage is made entirely of 100%
polyvinyl and is superior to all other types of coverings for garage floors.
You do need to unpack and install the covering as soon as it is delivered.
This helps it to lay flat on the floor because leaving it rolled up tends to cause it to retain bumps and ridges. The garage floor needs to be
clean of any dirt and debris and any oil or chemicals should be wiped up. When you lay the flooring you can buff the edges or overlap them to
provide a seamless look. If you use the 10 inch wide ribbed flooring, there is an overlap flap of unpatterned covering running down the edges
of both sides. Flooring in lesser widths does not have this flap to make the overlapping job easy.
You can unroll the cover directly onto the garage floor or you can unroll
it in the driveway. If it is a sunny day and you do unroll it outside the curled up edges will flatten out better from the heat of the sun.
When you start to lay it on the garage, always start at the entrance pushing the material ahead of you towards the back of the
garage. Let it lie on the floor for a few days before you start to trim around the edges because
depending on the weather conditions, the flooring may expand or contract.
