Repairing a Garage Floor
Garage floor repair can take many forms depending on the condition of the floor. If you want to repair any cracks or chips in the floor, there
are many epoxy products that you can use. You need to rout out the cracks and holes and make sure that you there is no dust or dirt remaining
there. Fill the cracks with the epoxy and smooth it out on the floor so that you don’t have a raised hump, further marring the look of the floor.
You do have to wait for the epoxy to dry before you walk on the area or apply any kind of finish to it.
Stains are a common problem on concrete garage floors. Anything that gets spilled on the floor tends to leave a stain and after a few years of
rugged use, the garage floor may look like a series of different size and shape stains of varying colors. Although getting stains out of the
concrete floor is difficult, it is not impossible. For grease stains, common in a garage, cover them with sawdust or kitty litter and leave this
on the stained area for a few days. These materials are wonderful for absorbing grease and oil from a garage floor. Use a broom to sweep up the
sawdust or kitty litter and then pour powdered dishwasher detergent over the stain leaving it there for about 45 minutes. Then comes the hardest
part of the job. Pour boiling water over it and scrub the stained area vigorously until you get it out.
It is very difficult to keep a garage floor clean. This is why most garage and homeowners use a coating for the floor that prevents liquids
from seeping into the concrete and causing a stain. The liquids on the floor are also the culprits for causing chips and cracks because liquid
weakens the strength of the cement.
